What is Tinnitus or ears ringing?

Ears Ringing or Tinnitus is the perception of sound when there is no external sound source present. The Ears Ringing/Tinnitus may occur intermittently or continuously, and can vary in loudness. Symptoms of Tinnitus include the hearing of buzzing, hissing,clicking chirping, ringing, whistling, or other sounds in the ears. The sounds in the ear may even be pulsatile (throbbing), sometimes in sync with your heart beat or constant and its pitch may be high or low, this is known as Pulsatile Tinnitus. There are many factors that causes tinnitus It is often worse when background noise is low, so you may be most aware of it at night when you’re trying to fall asleep in a quiet room.
What are the Categories of Tinnitus?
There are two categories of Tinnitus, Tinnitus may be objective or subjective. In objective tinnitus, the physician may be able to hear the noise while performing an examination while in subjective tinnitus, only the patient can hear the noises.
Who will get Tinnitus?
Although tinnitus is not specific to any one type of person, some persons are more likely to develop tinnitus. This includes Caucasians, adults over the age of 65, persons age-related hearing loss, persons who have been exposed to loud noises over an extended period of time and persons who has post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
